Question

How can my equipment help me meet the needs of the changing audiology landscape?

Answer

The pandemic has changed the audiology landscape forever. Many of the changes that took place are here to stay. The last few years have been particularly demanding forcing audiologists to quite literally think outside of the box. Meeting the needs of our patients required innovation. But these challenges provided opportunities to serve our patients better and changed how we care for them with the added benefit of building our practices. While our in-person practice model was confronted, the reality of a virtual and mobile model presented itself. The pandemic increased the need to meet the patient where they are, to take the clinic to the patient. And with that, the need for both teleaudiology and traveling audiology was given a big push forward.

Teleaudiology

No one could have predicted the pandemic and its crushing effects on providing healthcare.

However, since 2005 Inventis has been anticipating the needs of audiologists. While the need for teleaudiology solutions was gaining momentum prior to the pandemic, the need for high-quality, remote diagnostic hearing assessment was forced to the forefront. The Inventis Satellite Teleaudiology solution stood ready to meet that need. Already employed and well recognized worldwide, Inventis Satellite Teleaudiology solution was poised and ready to meet the needs of remote evaluations.

With the small footprint of the Piccolo Speech audiometer and Satellite’s built-in video conferencing system, the audiologist can perform air conduction, bone conduction, speech audiometry, and even QuickSIN remotely. There is no need to learn yet another video conference system since the video conferencing system is built into the Maestro diagnostic software. This allows the user to test and interact with the patient on the same screen. And since the Maestro software is a module in Noah, all the results are in the clinic's database.

Mobile Audiology

Many practices recognize the need to meet their patients where they provide mobile audiology services. While some have added these services to their existing practice, many audiologists have started mobile practices without having a brick-and-mortar location.

All Inventis equipment has a small footprint and is lightweight. This makes the equipment extremely portable. You can fit all your equipment needs, video otoscopy, tympanometry, audiometer, and real ear system, in one rolling bag. Whether you are providing house calls, providing nursing home care, or seeing patients in an auxiliary office, you can easily take your needed equipment with you. And, whether you are using the same equipment when returning to the office, or using different equipment for teleaudiology and mobile audiology, all the equipment has the same user interface. This makes transitioning and training of staff quite easy.

Adding teleaudiology and mobile audiology to your practice can be a win for your patients and your practice. Having flexible audiology equipment is thinking outside of the box and preparing you for the changing audiology landscape.
