This 3 hour webinar reviews the cortical auditory evoked potential (CAEP) in adults, children and infants. It describes the use of the N1-P2 response complex as an objective predictor of hearing threshold in adults and older children. It discusses the relationship between audibility of speech sounds and the presence of CAEPs in infants and children with hearing loss using amplification. Additionally, it describes how CAEPs are being used in clinical practice to assist with fitting of hearing aids in young infants. Clinical case studies and examples are provided. This webinar is presented in partnership with Seminars in Hearing.

Learning Outcomes
- After this course, participants will be able to describe the clinical uses and limitations of the N1-P2 cortical auditory evoked potential including stimulus and recording parameters and the effects of hearing aid gain on the CAEP amplitude.
- After this course, learners will be able to describe how CAEPs and audibility relate to each other and describe clinical applications of CAEPs for hearing aid evaluations and hearing aid adjustments.
- After this course, learners will be able to describe the benefits, limitations and complementary nature of CAEP testing when used to help manage infants with hearing loss.

Bram Van Dun
PhD
Dr Bram Van Dun is the senior research electrophysiologist at the National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL) in Sydney, Australia since 2009. His current research involves auditory brainstem responses and cortical auditory evoked potentials, translated clinically towards hearing threshold, hearing aid and cochlear implant fitting evaluation in hearing-impaired infants and adults, and objective assessment of spatial processing disorders.

Teresa Y.C. Ching
PhD
National Acoustic Laboratories, HEARing CRC, Australia
Dr Teresa YC Ching is head of Rehabilitation Procedures research at the National Acoustic Laboratories, Australia. Her current research focuses on investigating efficacy of early intervention for populations of children with bilateral hearing loss or unilateral hearing loss, identifying factors affecting outcomes, evaluation of sound detection and discrimination in infants with hearing loss or auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder using cortical auditory evoked potential (CAEP) measurements and parental reports, and prescription of hearing aids and electric-acoustic stimulation (bimodal fitting) for children and adults. Teresa has published more than 120 peer-reviewed manuscripts. She is regularly invited to deliver key note presentations at international conferences. She serves on the editorial boards of four international journals.
