This course is designed for Audiologists who treat hearing loss in children. The course will provide information on pediatric candidacy for cochlear implants, including Cochlear’s new FDA approval which allows implantation in children as young as nine months of age.

More effective cochlear implant (CI) clinical practices could result from consideration of individualized electrode array type (precurved vs. straight) as well as individual electrode position, resultant auditory perception, and device wear time in an attempt to maximize the number of spatially selective channels and auditory outcomes for each listener. This course will cover recent research completed at Vanderbilt University Medical Center combining audiological assessment, image processing, and application of individualized programming aimed at improving outcomes for adult CI recipients.

This course will provide an introduction to the evidence supporting perimodiolar electrodes and some of the audiology considerations. The course will summarize the recent clinical evidence surrounding this electrode and the impact it has on performance.

This course is designed for Audiologists who treat hearing loss in children. The course will provide information on conductive, mixed and unilateral hearing loss in children and will describe how bone conduction is a unique treatment option.

This foundational-level course is designed for Audiologists who are new to working with Baha systems. After attending this course, participants will be able to fit Baha 5 sound processors to patients with Baha Connect and Baha Attract implants. Topics will include surgical aftercare, connecting the device, programming considerations and follow up care. This course is designed as part of the overall “Foundations of Baha Implants” series.

This foundational-level course is designed for audiologists who are new to working with Baha systems. After attending this course, participants will be able to determine if someone is a candidate for Baha systems, including the Baha Connect and Baha Attract Systems. Topics will include testing for candidacy, counseling potential candidates and demonstrating Baha systems. This course is designed as part of the overall “Foundations of Baha Implants” series.

This foundational-level course is designed for audiologists who are new to working with Baha systems. After attending this course, participants will be able to list the features and benefits of Baha Systems, including Baha 5 sound processors. They will be provided with information about choosing sound processors and accessories for patients based on pre-operative testing. This course is designed as part of the overall “Foundations of Baha Implants” series.

While more and more patients with mixed and conductive hearing loss are being treated with Baha solutions, bilateral fittings remain rare. This presentation will review the candidacy criteria for bilateral fittings and discuss the potential benefits of bilateral fittings for patients who are appropriate candidates; we will also review features in Baha fitting software which support bilateral fittings.
