As hearing aid wearers engage with technology more than they have in decades past, hearing care providers (HCPs) must remain at the forefront of the field, providing wearers with solutions that will enhance their listening experience, both within the hearing aid – and beyond. This course will explore the ecosystem of Widex solutions designed to empower wearers to live confidently with their devices and hear their best in every situation.

This course describes a RIC hearing aid design that optimizes directional microphone orientation (angles) on the device. The results show improved directionality for speech-in-noise testing compared to traditional RIC designs.

This course provides an overview of the history of Bluetooth and its shortcomings in the hearing space, leading up to Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast, and outlines the fundamental changes that these new updates to Bluetooth will usher in. The course highlights many important details, such as the timeline of the roll out, the types of use cases that Auracast will enable, and why these updates will help to alleviate the current clinician and patient frustrations with Bluetooth.

Prescriptive hearing aid fitting rationales play an important role in successful hearing aid fittings. The ability to optimize the hearing aid response from the first fit forward is necessary to ensure the technology being fit provides amplification that is appropriate for the hearing loss, promotes effective communication, and addresses the individual needs of the patient. Hearing aid fitting formulas can also play a role in the acceptance or rejection of amplification. In this session, Dr. Dave Fabry discusses fitting formulas with Dr. Andrea Hannan Dawkes, Senior Education & Training Audiologist.
