Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) CEU Courses

This course will guide clinicians in determining the necessary knowledge, test materials, documents, templates, and supervision/mentorship to add CAPD services to their clinic. Information will include guidelines, seminar articles, where to find normative data, and suggestions for test batteries.

This course will focus on treatment of APD in context of interprofessional practice and holistic approach.. A review of previous methodology will first be reviewed, then will be followed by evidence of an interprofessional approach and why this is a preferred method. Concomittant diagnoses most closely associated with APD in military professions will be discussed.

This presentation gives an overview of Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) in schools. Everything from red flags, referrals, and practical interventions will be discussed.

This presentation is designed to discuss the role of hearing aids/amplification in the treatment of functional hearing losses/auditory processing disorders.

This course will describe the language barriers often faced at an audiology practice in a major metropolitan hospital, and how these barriers are overcome to provide the best patient care. Concussions are diffuse brain injuries that affect multiple organ systems, including sensory systems in the brain. In this course, Dr. Kraus will show that the auditory system is a common, but underappreciated, locus of disruption following a concussion.

This course seeks to demonstrate the utilization of the Central Test Battery/Buffalo Model therapy as a viable and innovative means to diagnose and treat Auditory Processing Disorders (APD). This session will help clinicians interpret information from assessment results in the hope of furthering earlier identification, intervention and remediation.

This Grand Rounds features a presentation of two cases to illustrate the assessment and management of patients with auditory processing disorders. Cases include one child and one adult. Following each case presentation, we will discuss information essential for identification, diagnosis, and management of patients with auditory processing disorders.

There are many controversies regarding APD testing in school-aged children. Dr. Lucker will discuss the important controversies including evidence that supports or refutes many, such as the youngest age to evaluate a child, whether APD should be recognized as a learning disability in schools, and how to evaluate and interpret APD tests on children identified with intellectual disabilities.
